Our statement on plans to close Healthwatch

While the detail of the change is due to be published in the Dash Review, a review into the operational effectiveness of patient safety organisations, the government has not released the timetable for that publication which is due alongside the NHS 10-Year Health Plan.
Healthwatch was established 12 years ago to act as the voice for the patient, where for so long, the person being treated and cared for was unable to speak up or be heard. An independent body, mostly supported by a network of local volunteers, Healthwatch made sure local health and social care services treated and cared for patients with dignity, compassion, and kindness through safe, high-quality care.
HBB has delivered for patients and loved ones by:
Listening to your concerns and praise and filtering them to health and social care providers and those commissioning the services
- Working with health and social care providers to ensure good and considerate practice in health and care
Worked with health and care managers to make sure patients are treated respectfully and mindful of equality considerations - Undertaken an enormous number of reviews of health and social care premises to make sure patients are well cared for
HBB believes there is a role for a Healthwatch function to protect and advocate for patients, and we will continue to deliver for these patients while we await further information.
If you would like to volunteer for HBB, give us your feedback on your patient experience, or have a concern you would like to tell us about, you can find more information on our website.
