 The Aim

The aim of the Strategy is to reduce the size of differences in health and wellbeing for different communities in Bedford Borough. The Health and Wellbeing Board understand that residents are experts on their own areas and communities, and the Board is asking residents, community groups and local businesses to share their ideas for how the proposed actions in the strategy can be strengthened.

The Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2024-2027 sets out how the health and wellbeing of people living in Bedford Borough can be improved. Peoples’ health is determined by a range of factors including the quality of their housing, their education and employment, living in an area where it is easy to make healthier choices, and strong community bonds. These factors are called the 'building blocks of health' and they are responsible for around half of what makes us healthy.

A Bedford Borough spokesperson emphasised the significance of this consultation, saying, "The Health and Wellbeing Strategy is a vital roadmap that guides local efforts to improve the lives of our residents and tackle unfair differences in health. We are eager to hear from as many people as possible, so that we can ensure the strategy addresses the building blocks of health that matter most to residents and their families."

The public consultation period for the Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2024-2027 will run from Monday 2 October to Sunday 29 October, providing ample opportunity for residents, community groups and local businesses to participate. During October the Public Health Outreach Team will be out and about actively seeking the views of residents and community groups.
